These automatic waterers are GREAT. I have 1 installed on the outside of each pen, so that the goat must stick their head thru the fence and into the enclosed ( had trouble with birds sitting on the fence and fouling the water ) water area. The feed line is buried deep enough to not freeze and during the winter a back panel with a light bulb attached is applied to the back of the waterer ( the bulb is actually under the water bowl ). The light bulb ( ground fault circuit ) actually heats the water a little and protects the system from freezing down to 0 degrees ( from my experience so far ). My original waterers were enamel-coated galvanized metal. Since they eventually rusted up I found these great heavy plastic ones. They are actually made by a company in Germany but can be found in the US. I found mine at the Atwoods farm stores.
